As agreed, on the afternoon of October 4, 2018, the US Embassy and Vinh University held a Fulbright Program Exchange at Vinh University. The representative of the US Embassy, Ms. Kellee Farmer, Cultural Affairs Officer and four other Fulbright Program officers. From Vinh University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang, Vice President and representatives of divisions at the University attended this exchange. In particular, the meeting was animated by 20 Fulbright scholars in 2017 and nearly 70 staff and students of Vinh University.
Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang appreciated Fulbright's valuable contributions to Vietnam in general and to Vinh University, in particular, through cooperative programs, especially the Fulbright Scholarship Program. Vinh University benefits greatly from the Program's activities. Today's exchange is a valuable opportunity for students and staff of Vinh University to have more opportunities to access US Government scholarship programs. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Bang also wishes to develop more effectively this programme of scholarship with the US Embassy to strengthen education and training.
On behalf of the US Embassy, Ms. Kellee Farmer, Cultural Affairs Officer, thanked Vinh University for facilitating the successful organization of the exchange. Ms. Kellee Farmar gave a brief introduction about the ongoing Fulbright programs and encouraged participants to apply for scholarships in a near future. The exchange is divided into three main sections, in the first part, the representative of the US Embassy provides information about US education and information related to Fulbright scholarships; the second section is for Fulbright scholars to introduce, discuss and share experiences in conquering Fulbright and the final is to for Fulbright scholars to interview future Fulbright scholarship applicants.
The most important part of the meeting is to discuss and share experiences. Most participants asked questions about the scholarship application process and how to successfully conquer scholarships. With great efforts, 20 Fulbright scholars answered many important questions raised by potential candidates at Vinh University. The meeting was a great success, providing opportunities for Vinh University staff and students with opportunities and useful information for the conquest of the upcoming Fulbright scholarships.
